EIZO Cup #3 winner found

posted by Sun_Tzu,
The third EIZO CUP to date is behind us, as we got a taste of how various International qualifier hopefuls matched up against their brethren who had come just short of a qualifier invite, in particular marking the first chance of a jilted fan favourite in eu Kaipi to prove that Valve made a mistake when they left them out in the cold.

Of those who failed to make the cut, the Peruvian pe Artyk Gaming eliminated se 4 Friends + Chrillee, before falling to invited dk Absolute Legends. Meanwhile on the other side of the bracket, kz Next.Kz bolstered claims of some that, although talented, ua iCCup still lack the level of teamplay and leadership, as they fell in the quarter finals, followed by Kaipi domineering Next.Kz to make their way into the finals.

eu Kaipi vs. dk Absolute Legends

Game 1

A common sight recently, dk Jonathan 'Unicornxoxo' Arge on Anti-Mage took on the Phantom Lancer of ca Jacky 'EternaLEnVy' Mao, but this time Kaipi piled on the split push by giving ro Pittner 'bone7' Armand a Nature's Prophet. While Kaipi got off to a slightly stronger start, especially with the talented youth ca Artour 'Arteezy' Babaev doing great work on Puck in mid lane, neither side got quite far enough ahead to dominate teamfights.

But Kaipi showed that they did not need to end the game early, as slowly but surely the army of Phantom Lancers grew in strength as is customary, allowing them to siege up the middle lane, backing off with the Melee Barracks on a sliver of life, only to have ro Alex 'ComeWithMe' Craciunescu on Visage turn back around with his Familiars and snipe off the first Barracks of the game, in a move which left the Danes forced to admit that on this day, even pigs could fly. Ahead, Kaipi backed off and picked up an Aegis of Immortality for Envy, at which point the dams broke and aL were no longer capable of holding back the hordes, allowing Kaipi to secure game 1.

Game 2

Kaipi switched it up for the second game, picking a four Intelligence hero lineup topped off with a unconventional Zeus for Arteezy, while CWM and bone7 reprised their roles as Visage and Nature's Prophet from the previous game. With Envy picking up a weaver as well as captain se Johan 'pieliedie' Åström picking up a Bane, Kaipi had a team that could bring the aggression early on, and bring it they did. Even as aL sent a dual lane of Lifestealer and Lina mid, Arteezy and pieliedie were able to find early kills, while Envy dominated the opponents offlane Warlock.

The sheer amount of aggression was too much for aL to handle, as the kills spiraled out of control. The final deciding fight of the game came in mid, where Arteezy survived against what seemed like an impossible onslaught, with pieliedie putting him in Nightmare to deny the kiling blow and then turning around to Fiend's Grip the enemy Lifestealer, culminating in a 5-0 wipe and seeing the Danes admit defeat.

Kaipi win the third EIZO Cup over Absolute Legends by a 2-0 score.
