Godz: "NA orgs are looking at these games that appear more stable" - Position 6 Highlights

posted by joinDOTA Staff,
This week Dan Offen is joined by David 'Godz' Parker in the latest episode of Position 6. The 29-year old Australian has been around since the earliest days of Dota 2 and co-founded Beyond the Summit.

Godz is one of the masterminds behind Beyond the Summit. The tournament organiser is a staple in esports and known for producing more casual events that bring pro players and fans closely together. He explains that high numbers in viewership aren't the only metric that is important when conceptualizing BTS events. Godz and his colleagues try to deliver a good show, no matter which teams are playing.

Another topic addressed by Dan and Godz why the Dota 2 scene in America is on the decline. According to Godz, NA has a considerably smaller player base which also leads to fewer organisations and sponsors making investments in Dota. What has to be done in order to counter this development? Godz establishes the thesis that organisations in NA would give Dota more support if there was a more stable system of leagues that justifies long-time committment.
