5 things we are hyped for on the Main Stage

Tomorrow is a break day at the MDL Disneyland Paris Major, but that doesn't mean we're not looking forward to when the action resumes on the Main Stage.

Team Secret and OG go to war

Not too long ago I was rather harsh on OG; I honestly did not think they were good enough to compete with the best teams in Dota 2, even with Anathan 'ana' Pham. However, they have proved me and many other doubters wrong by playing some ungodly Dota 2 as of late. Which makes their upcoming bout against Team Secret all the more delectable.

Team Secret has been a titan in Dota 2. They are ultra-consistent, incredibly skilled, and seem to have poise to spare when it comes to tense moments. This contrasts nicely with OG, who have been not been the least bit consistent since The International 2018, but are currently looking in exceptional form and are also riding a massive wave of momentum.

Somehow, the Upper Bracket match no one predicted looks to be the best series of the tournament so far.

ppd to face his old team Evil Geniuses

Sometimes the narratives in Dota 2 feel like they come straight out of a novel. While it's not uncommon for the old guard from a team to fight the new, it is particularly special when the old captain of a TI-winner must face his old squad.

And so it is that Peter 'ppd' Dager finds himself staring down Evil Geniuses in the Upper Bracket. Ninjas in Pyjamas has been consistently exceeding the somewhat low expectations placed on them, even after their victory at the Dota PIT Minor. Regardless, they are in the Upper Bracket, they are confident, and they are looking good.

Will ppd have his revenge?

An utterly stacked Lower Bracket

PSG.LGD, Virtus.pro, Team Liquid, and Vici Gaming. All of these teams are beasts and all of them have only one life left.

It always seems that in big tournaments there is one squad that unofficially takes up the mantle of "running" the Lower Bracket and making it to the Grand Finals. This Major feels different in that there are just so many savage teams throughout the entirety of both bracketsβ€”it seems nearly impossible that a single team can go on that kind of a run.

Then again, many of the teams are good enough to do exactly that if they are able to hit the right stride. For now, we'll just have to be content knowing the Lower Bracket will be replete with fireworks.

More hilarious banter from the talent (but mainly Kyle)

No tournament would feel as engaging or as epic without the talent that give us that human connection. So far at Disneyland the Analyst Desk has been pretty great. But what has really made it memorable is the perfectly pitched childish banter it produces. We can only hope that Kyle 'Kyle' Freedman continues to give us more meme-worthy content.

And, of course, we can't forget the casters themselves. Can we start a petition for some Blitz roller coaster content pieces?

The actual, literal Main Stage

There have been some pretty incredible Main Stages in Dota 2's competitive history. While The International will always have the most grandiose stage, many other tournaments have created equally as slick and thematically astounding stages in terms of design.

However, no tournament has ever been at Disneyland before. This is a perfect opportunity to see a rarefied kind of Main Stage, one that is whimsical, surreal, and just flat out awe-inducing. I sincerely hope it is a sight to behold and also that they don't waste the obvious Disney-themed potential it could have. Here's hoping for something amazing when the action restarts in two days.
