The GG.Bet Birmingham Invitational concluded this weekend and it was Alliance who overcame the CIS squad Old But Gold to qualify for ESL One Birmingham 2019.

Illidan dominant in Game One

The first game was a very strong showing by Old But Gold. They took an early lead and built good farm on Ilya 'Illidan Stormrage' Pivtsaev's Razor. Although Alliance kept fighting back, OBG's team coordination was simply better.

After a fight at the 30 minute mark, Old But Gold began a decisive snowball which lead them to systematically take all outer towers and, eventually the game. Illidan finished the game 12-3-10.

Qojqva's Storm Spirit goes in on Old But Gold

Game Two was a fairly even game throughout, with both teams exchanging small leads. Old But Gold tried to push the highground a few times, but Alliance was always able to repel without losing buildings. Samuel 'Boxi' Svahn's Earthshaker was doing a huge amount of work keep fights managable and enemies locked down.

As the game progressed, however, it was Max 'Qojqva' Broecker's 18-3-9 Storm Spirit that really took over. He was able to carry Omar 'Madara' Dabachach's Naix to advantageous positions in fights and truly punish OBG up until they called the GG at 36 minutes.

Push vs. Push in Game Three

The third match saw both teams go for a pushing lineup: OBG depending on Illidan's Leshrac while Alliance drafted Vengeful Spirit for Aydin 'INSaNIA' Sarkohi combined with Madara's Juggernaut. However, it was Alliance that was in control for the entire game, simply able to play their draft better. Qojqva had another standout game on Kunkka which dictated a lot of their success.

Alliance ends the series with an exclamation mark

Game Four was a tried and true stomp. OBG was held to 7 kills in 35 minutes and they never had the lead all game. Madara's 12-2-16 Troll Warlord anchored Alliance's efforts all around the map, and by the time they were knocking on Old But Gold's door, there was little left for the CIS squad to do but fight and die.
