Evil Geniuses remain the best team in North America
It is no surprise that the best North American team in Dota 2 qualified for the Major in Paris. Evil Geniuses was dominant in the Qualifier, going 4-0 in the Group Stage, and dropped their only game to J.Storm in a qualification series which they eventually won.
However, we all know being the best team in the NA region does not, on its own, amount to much. The Kings of Third did worse than their disheartening moniker in Stockholm recently, where they tied for 7/8th place at DreamLeague Season 11. There is no doubt that EG will want to shake off their string of disappointing results and vie for the title in May; but, can they?
See you soon, Paris!

With a fairly one-sided Game 3, we punch our ticket to the #MDLDisney Major! GGs to @Team_JStorm.
We'll be taking some time to relax and bootcamp, and we hope to see you there! pic.twitter.com/fnU4c2XVMs
Limmp puts Complexity on his back
I had to look up the last time compLexity Gaming had a respectable big tournament finish. (It was 2017.) You see, Complexity is very good and winning tournament qualifiers, but they are not so good at performing in the actual tournaments. They placed 2nd at World Cyber Arena 2017; that was the last time they approached the podium in a tournament with money as a prize.
So here they are again, handly qualifying for a tournament; the obvious question, then, is if they can actually compete this time. Though the question does not have a clear answer, what is true is that Complexity has been playing better. Galvin 'Meracle-' Kang Jian Wen and Linus 'Limmp' Blomdin have been really ramping up their game, with Limmp in particular going a bit ham in the final game of their qualifying series, as his Tiny absolutely dumpstered Forward Gaming with a 16-1-16 KDA. Here's hoping they can all keep up the momentum.

Envy finally qualifies for a big tournament
I also had to look up the last time Jacky 'EternaLEnVy' Mao went to a Major for Dota 2. (It was last November at DreamLeague Season 10; he tied for 5/6th place.) Envy has essentially been a mercenary for the last few months, and because of that fact there were very few expectations on beastcoast to perform.
However, Team Team was able to defeat J.Storm—a team that was looking shockingly good and getting better every time they played—to qualify for Paris. As one might imagine, this had a lot to do with Envy himself. In their qualifying series against Forward Gaming, after dropping the first match, Team Team essentially ran a 5-protect-1 strategy, wherein Envy finished 8-1-12 in Game Two and 8-2-10 in Game Three. They have made it to Paris, but can they contend against top teams with old strategies? We will find out in May.
The third and last spot in NA goes to Team Team!
