Tier 1 - Shining Favourites

Evil Geniuses

A third place at The International 2018, at The Kuala Lumpur Major and The Chongqing Major: the Evil Geniuses fought for this top four position over the last months. In Macau, they finally defeated their own curse and made it into the Grand Finals.

EG has been one of the best teams in the world since Tal 'Fly' Aizik and Gustav 's4' Magnusson joined the organization. The North American squad can be considered a favourite to win the event, but the top three are still one step ahead.

Team Liquid

One of those teams is Team Liquid. The European squad is considered to be one of the best teams in the world, although the DPC performance of the The International 2017 winner hasn't been breathtaking so far.

They withdrew from the first round of DPC and attended the Chongqing Major without their star mid laner Amer 'Miracle-' Al-Barkawi where they finished in 7th-8th place. However, Liquid already won two tournaments outside of the DPC season: Kuro S. 'KuroKy' Takhasomi and his team-mates are the kings of Mars Media Dota 2 League: Macau 2019 and MegaFon Winter Clash.

Virtus.pro

Virtus.pro were the kings of the last DPC season and are also on top of the second one at the moment. They share the first place with Team Secret because the teams reached both Major Grand Finals, each winning one of them.

The Russian squad started the season surprisingly strong after a disappointing result at TI8. Virtus.pro won The Kuala Lumpur Major, getting back to old strength right on time. VP has a top-level player in every position, but is struggling a bit in events that aren't part of the DPC circuit. They finished third at ESL One Hamburg and lost against Evil Geniuses in Macau before reaching the Grand Finals. All eyes will be on VP and Team Secret at this Major.

Team Secret

Team Secret is probably the best team in the world right now. Except for the second place in Kuala Lumpur and a 5th-6th place in the MegaFon competition, they won every single LAN tournament they attended. Clement 'Puppey' Ivanov and his team won a Major, both ESL Ones in Hamburg and Katowice as well as the PVP Esports Championship at the beginning of the current season.

Michał 'Nisha' Jankowski and Ludwig 'zai' Wåhlberg improved drastically since joining Puppey's team. Especially the Swede is considered to be one of the best off laners in the world right now - maybe even the best.

However, Team Secret also had peaks during the last year. Now they need to prove that their incredible form is not just for a short time, but also for the rest of the season.

The third Major of the season starts on March 14. The Grand Final will be played on March 24.
