"Who cares right now, we're just playing Dota" — 5 highlights from WESG and the SLI Minor

The last few days have been packed with Dota 2. Here are the best moments so far from WESG 2018 and the StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor.

Team Ukraine and No[o]ne's Double Rampage

Team Ukraine has been dominant at WESG 2018. They have finished first in their group and also boast one of the best records across all teams in the tournament. It should come as a surprise to no one, then, (pun intended) when Virtus.pro's midlaner Vladimir 'No[o]ne' Minenko was able to take a casual double Rampage against EHOME in their recent group stage match.

Fervian's Aegis Steal

Even though they were expected to be the underdog in their group, it will be nonetheless disappointing for BOOM Esports that they find themselves facing elminiation in the Loser's Match at the SLI Minor. Despite their inauspicious placement, however, they have had a few moments of genuinely great Dota 2 gameplay, including RandyMuhammad 'Dreamocel' Sapoetra super clutch Aegis steal with Ember Spirit.

Chessie's 4-man Reverse Polarity

It's been a rough WESG for Swedish squad The Final Tribe. They finished third in their group and were elminated from the tournament—they were only one spot shy of advancing to the Playoffs. Sad as that might be for them and their fans, it didn't stop Rasmus 'Chessie' Blomdin from pulling off an insane Reverse Polarity whilst defending their base against FATE Esports.

Gambit's Dark Seer & Ember Spirit Wombo Combo

At this point every knows the name AS Monaco Gambit. They had a fantastic run at ESL One Katowice 2019, and although they are facing elimination in the Decider Match at the SLI Minor, they are expected to win regardless of who they face and make it to the Playoffs. That expectation arises because of how much skill they have shown as a team—skill no better showcased than in their match against Vici Gaming.

Illidan Stormrage

It has been a few years since Ilya 'Illidan Stormrage' Pivtsaev's name has been in the Dota mainstream. However, finally, people are starting to remember his name as he plays with his new squad Old But Gold at the SLI Minor. The CIS team was able to beat The International 2018 champions OG in large part because of Illidan's dominant performances in the matches.

In an interview after their series win over OG, Illidan gave us one of the most memorable Dota 2 quotes in recent memory.
