CIS drama: Is Virtus.pro's behaviour at MDL unprofessional?

posted by Smyke,
The Russian Virtus.pro duo Vladimir 'No[o]ne' Minenko and Pavel '9pasha' Khvastunov were caught on stream while playing Apex in the draft phase at Mars Media Dota 2 League: Macau 2019. CIS veterans are now discussing if this is acceptable behaviour or not.

Virtus.pro: Everything for the TI victory

While the English cast was laughing about the fact that the Russian duo was playing another game during the draft phase against EHOME, Yaroslav 'NS' Kuznetsov, a former player and analyst, criticized it. In his opinion, it's unprofessional and unacceptable. Meanwhile, VP's general manager Roman Dvoryankin and Vitalii 'V1lat' Volochai shared their opinion on the topic:

Roman explains that VP had an amazing first DPC season in which they almost won every big tournament. However, in the end they still didn't win the Aegis at The International 2018. This is why they wanted to approach this season differently. The players are still concentrated and competitive, but don't want to lose their fun at playing.

V1lat supports Virtus.pro's General Manager in his opinion by explaining that the organization is doing the right thing in not being overcompetitive in tournaments that don't matter for the DPC circuit. In his opinion, everything should be focused on the players not getting tired of playing Dota 2 so they can be at their peak during The International 2019.

Vladimir 'No[o]ne' Minenko even explained in several interviews that he's not involved in the draft phase most of the time. Aleksey 'Solo' Berezin, Arsenii 'ArsZeeqq' Usov and Roman 'RAMZEs' Kushnarev take care of it.

It's a difficult topic indeed. Should the players be focused on the game all the time or is it maybe even helping if they distract themselves and keep a fresh mind?

What is your opinion on the topic?
