BOOM ID secures another Minor appearance
BOOM Esports was the first team to qualify for the event in the Ukraine. The Indonesian squad beat Lotac twice to win the slot for the Minor.
This means BOOM ID will represent South-East Asia for the second time in a row at a Minor event. The Indonesian team already attended The Bucharest Minor, but finished in 7-8th place after losing to the North American squad beastcoast. This time, at least they won't have to face Michael 'ixmike88' Ghannam and his teammates at the next Minor.
Team Team lost in the Lower Bracket Finals against none other than Jacky 'EternaLEnVy' Mao and his test 123. It seems like replacing Nico 'Gunnar' Lopez with Team Team's Eric 'Ryoya' Dong was the right call.
In the next game, EE's squad had to face compLexity Gaming. The SEA trio Yang 'Deth' Wu Heng, Adam Erwann 'Adam' Shah and Galvin 'Meracle-' Kang Jian Wen joined coL by the end of November after they failed to qualify for the Minor and Major in round two of the DPC.
EE, back to the carry position, demonstrated that he's still a top-level player on this position. He led his team to a clean 2-0 victory in the Grand Finals. However, the first game was a long-lasting one which took almost 80 minutes. Exhausted from game one, coL didn't have the power to stop FP's aggressive lineup afterwards.
Two CIS teams, but no Ukrainian player
Fans from the Ukraine will be disappointed after the CIS qualifier for their home Minor. Both teams that made it through the qualifier don't have a single Ukrainian player in their roster. The first team that qualified for the Minor was AS Monaco Gambit. Since Artem 'fng' Barshack joined in December 2018, Gambit is doing a great job. They finished second at The Bucharest Minor and third in the qualifier for the Major.
The second team to make it to the Minor is Old But Gold. The stack was announced by the end of January and started their DPC tour at the DreamLeague Major qualifier where they finished in 4th place - right behind Gambit. Ilya 'Illidan Stormrage' Pivtsaev, Stanislav 'BzzIsPerfect' Glushan and their teammates proved that they still got enough power to beat young teams like Pavaga and Aachen City Esports.
We need to wait three more days until the participant list for the StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor is finalized. The European qualifier is the last one to determine their representing team.
Who do you think will join these four teams at the Minor?
