The holiday season is fast approaching, but that doesn’t mean the competitive Dota 2 goodness has to stop. WePlay have announced their Winter Madness tournament from December 27 to January 5, with $100,000 on the table. WePlay have revealed that fourteen top teams will compete for the sizeable prize pool — with $50,000 going to the winner — and what they call the Iron Throne.

The tournament is split into two phases. The Group Stage, taking place between 27-30 December, sees two groups of five teams play a best-of-one Round Robin format. Only the last-placed team in each group will be eliminated.

From 2-5 January, teams will face off in a best-of-three, single-elimination Playoffs bracket. The eight teams who qualify from the Group Stage will battle it out for a place in the next round, which is where the remaining four teams await.

The Grand Final will take place om 5 January, and is the standard best-of-five series.

Three teams have already been announced for the tournament — Chongqing Major qualifiers Alliance and Forward Gaming, and Ninjas in Pyjamas, who took fourth place at The Kuala Lumpur Major.

Which other teams would you like to see take part?
