The second day of games started out with the continuation of the series which had been left on hold from the day before, with
Absolute Legends dropping
RoX.KiS in the third game of the series. The Russians then met up with
Fnatic.EU in the quarter-finals, where Fnatic.EU crushed the Russians hopes with a clean 2-0 victory, advancing to the semi-finals.Meanwhile fan favourites and the great American hope,
Team Liquid, encountered some surprising resistance from
Kaipi in the third and deciding game of their series. However even with a fairly good early game, Kaipi were unable to hold back Liquid's Phantom Lancer, who simply started ripping through any and all opposition in the mid to late game, and ultimately sent Liquid on into the semi-finals as well. The Semi-Finals
Fnatic.Eu vs. Na`Vi
Fnatic.EU's captain
Tal 'Fly' Aizik is currently on holiday in Italy and in his place we saw one of their regular stand-in's,
Stamatis 'Doomix' Kiosis. This put additional pressure on Fnatic to try and contend with a very much so on-form
Na`Vi.While Fnatic started out the series with solid measured aggression, Na`Vi simply got more out of the map and out-pushed their opponents with a Dragon Knight and Chen in Game 1. Surprisingly Na`Vi were unable to break the base, which allowed Fnatic to turtle things out for quite a while with two carries and a Magnus. Ultimately the deciding factor seemed to be the great Rubick play coming out of
Kuro 'KuroKy' Takhasomi and his many stolen Reverse Polarities, which helped Na`Vi win Game 1.Na`Vi ran out of time during the second game draft and ended up randoming a Zeus, which they chose to keep and give over to
Danil 'Dendi' Ishutin. As the old saying goes, when you get lightning flavoured lemons, you capture the lightning in a bottle and call it Lightningade. Or as in this case, dominate the game as Zeus, taking a swift 2-0 victory and proceeding into the finals.Team Liquid vs. Mousesports
In the other semi-final,
Mousesports were also down one player, their support player
Alexander 'Alex' Reinhardt who was out for the night. In his place Mouz fielded
Angelo 'TheNeno-' Caula Gonzalez.Things just did not go Mouz's way in Game 1, as Anti-Mage got a early First Blood, allowing Liquid to simply steamroll their opponents, with the game over almost in the blink of an eye. Going into Game 2, Mouz looked a lot more collected, and ended up outfarming their opponents with two strong carries against a sole Anti-Mage on Liquid. With each team taking a convincing victory, the series went to a third game.
What looked fairly close in the early game slowly began to turn in Liquid's favour, as their superior split-push and better farm accross the team allowed them to establish their map control in the mid game. The following mid game felt like death by a thousand papercuts, as Phantom Lancer and Nature's Prophet slowly nibbled away on opposite sides of Mouz base. One by one the lanes went down without Mouz ever having an opening to strike back. Liquid proceeds to the finals with a 2-1 scoreline.
The Final Battle
The final saw
Team Liquid taking on
Na'Vi . Game One started off with a bang with Na'Vi being unable to hold Liquids line-up and losing a key teamfight at Roshan, resulted in Na'Vi seemingly getting overrun by Liquid. After failed attempts at taking Liquids bottom rax to give them the upper hand they needed, it seemed far too much for Na'Vi to stop Phantom Lancer overrunning them. Na'Vi's team line-up had no AOE to handle the fed Phantom Lancer played by
Tyler 'TC' Cook. And Liquid managed to secure the first game.Going into the second game it was on Na'Vi to pull something out of the bag and take this to the third and final map. From the get-go it was clear that Na'Vi had a late game advantage and to counter this Liquid had ensured to capitalise by taking early and mid game team fights and ganks, to punish such a line up. At one point it all seemed too much for Na'Vi seemingly unable to cope with the wisp and chaos knight combination. However one mispositioning by TC having purchased his reaver resulted in him being picked off and top rax being taken. The rest of Liquid unable to hold off Na'Vi until the eventual respawn of TC led to multiple deaths and the rebuys were unable to stop Na'Vi's onslaught, safely securing game two for Na'Vi.
The third and final game saw Na'Vi pick apart Liquids lineup, allowing
Alexander 'XBOCT' Dashkevich to free farm top on Weaver whilst the rest of Na'Vi ganked bottom and helped slow down TC's farm. The relentless ganks on Silencer resulted in his global silence coming quite late into the game, this lead to Liquid being unable to stop Na'Vi from tearing apart their line-up for most of the early to mid game. Liquid made some well timed counter-attacks to Na'Vi's ganks but this was still not enough to stop Weaver and eventually resulted in Weaver having over two times the networth both Gyrocopter and Natures prophet.
Kuro 'KuroKy Takhasomi on his infamous Rubick was able to capitalise on the purchase of his Blink Dagger by stealing Magnus' skewer to maximize Na'Vi's team fight ability and ensure the final teamfight went the way of Na'Vi, securing them this month's crown.Prizes
