We take Game 3 against @AsterCN and clinch the series 2-1! We'll be moving on to face their Chinese compatriots in @ViCi_Gaming in the winner's match of our group.#BleedBlue pic.twitter.com/14i8c2QQga
Their opening match against Team Aster wasn’t a straighforward one, with the best-of-three series going the distance. Game 1 swung backwards and forwards, with Evil Geniuses first building up a 10k lead before Aster roared back. EG once again pulled ahead, and yet again Aster recovered — this time going on to seal the win.
Game 2 was close and with fewer kills across the board, but which saw EG build a steady advantage that they converted into a half-hour win. And so, to the decider — which was unlike the other two games completely.
EG led for almost the entirety of the game, and it was a kill-fest. 91 kills were recorded in total, with the NA side picking up 60 for themselves — Sumail 'SumaiL' Syed Hassan and Artour 'Arteezy' Babaev going huge with 48 between them. However, despite the advantage, the game was a marathon — clocking in at over 76 minutes.

Vici survive TNC assault
In the other opening match, Vici Gaming showed great character in recording a 2-0 series win over TNC Predator, despite being under pressure for large parts of both games — which turned out to be marathons rather than sprints.
In the first, TNC forged ahead almost from the off, building up a 15k lead thanks to Armel Paul 'Armel' Tabios’s Invoker. However, Zhang 'Eurus' Chengjun had other ideas. He went massive on Terrorblade as Vici clawed back the deficit, claiming 24 kills of his side’s 34 total as they won in 57 minutes.
Game 2 was shorter, but not by much. The game went back and forward, with TNC leading for much of the opening 25 minutes. A skirmish then put Vici firmly in control — again thanks to Paparazi’s Terrorblade — their lead peaking at almost 17k. However, Armel wasn’t done as TNC overturned the net worth lead, but it just wasn’t enough and Vici closed out the series win in 52 minutes.
And that's all she wrote!

We take our series against @ViCi_Gaming 2-0 to clinch an Upper Bracket berth at the Kuala Lumpur Major! With this win we'll get tomorrow off, and we'll see you on the 12th!#BleedBlue pic.twitter.com/qphjMuooFF
First place in comfort for EG
And so to the Winners’ Match, which turned out to be more one-sided than expected. Not once did Evil Geniuses fall behind in Game 1, as they suppressed the danger Paparazi posed. They steadily picked off their Chinese opponents as they patiently built a lead, closing out the win inside 33 minutes.
Game 2 was much the same. The early game was pretty even, but again EG kept the VG killing threat quiet, while Arteezy helped himself to 16 kills overall — more than a quarter of the whole game’s tally. They closed out the series victory in relative comfort, claiming their place in the Upper Bracket.
Can Evil Geniuses go all the way and win their first DPC event of the season?
