NoFear pays the price for team’s poor form
In a quote given to cyber.sports.ru from coach Eugeniy “Sh4dowehhh” Alekseev, the reasons for benching NoFear were revealed — the team’s dire form post-TI8 meant that changes needed to be made, and it was the former captain whom the axe fell upon.
It is fair to say that their results have been incredibly poor, with the Russian-based side failing to make any of The Kuala Lumpur Major, the DreamLeague Season 10 Minor or ESL One Hamburg 2018. A disappointing month has left them with nothing immediate to look forward to on the big stage.
Missing out on the big events
Despite winning their group in The Kuala Lumpur Major: CIS Qualifier thanks to wins over AS Monaco Gambit and Elements Pro Gaming, they fell to Team Spirit in the playoffs, before ferzee took their revenge to end their hopes of qualifying by right.
Then, they failed to even make the main CIS Qualifier for DreamLeague Season 10. In the Open Qualifier, they faced off against Natus Vincere — with the winner moving on to the final qualifier — but fell to a 2-1 loss. This meant their hopes of attending the Minor — and therefore having a shot at the Major — were over.
And so, they were left with ESL One Hamburg. With only one spot available for a combined Europe and CIS qualifier, they limped out in their first match, going down 2-0 once more to Team Spirit.
Who could replace NoFear at position 4 in the roster?
