Valve finally released The Promise of Eminent Revival today. It was the long-awaited Battle Pass Level 615 reward, which Valve promised would be "new takes on five select items from previous Battle Pass Immortal treasures." There's been a fair amount of disappointment surrounding the items, so we decided to take a closer look.

Lone Druid's Couldron of Xahryx

The original version of this item was released in the Immortal Reliquary from The International 2013 compendium. 2013 was a simpler time — Compendium owners recieved just one of these treasures and had to learn to love whichever one of the five Immortals they recieved. Even though Lone Druid was reasonably popular at the time, this was one of the least popular items in the chest.

Both versions of the item come with a custom attack animation as well as a custom Entangle effect.

Kunkka's Leviathan Whale Blade

This sword was another one of the five TI3 Immortals. Both versions have a custom effect for Tidebringer being off cooldown as well as a custom Torrent Effect. The realistic blue whale's tail in the original Torrent effect has been replaced with a green crystal encrusted tail with an updated animation in the Revival version.

Lion's Fin King's Charm

Featured in The International 2014 Compendium's Immortal Strongbox, this item wasn't as tricky to obtain as the last two since the TI4 Compendium awarded owners a Strongbox every 10 levels. Both old and new versions change Hex's frog model to a fish — but the new fish is green. Of course.

Storm's Lightning Orchid of Eminent Revival

Also released for TI4, the original Lightning Orchid was one of the first offenders of Valve's colour-scheme ruining spree. It changed the Ball Lightning Effect from blue to red. The new version? Guess. The original item also changes the status indicator for Orchid Malevolance's active, but the new version's indicator is the same colour. Curiously, the old version changed Storm's eyes from a blueish glow to a very red one. Despite dropping all other traces of red from the hat, the distinct red eye glow file remains tied to the new item.

Leshrac's Tormented Staff

The original Tormented Staff could be attained through the Immortal II treasure in The International 2015 Battle Pass. It changes many of Leshrac's animations, since he normally stands with his hands to his side, but needed to be animated holding the staff for this item.

Both versions of the item feature a custom Split Earth effect.

What do you think of the Promise of Eminent Revival? Will you be swapping out your old Immortals for these?
