If you befriended the GOSU.AI bot for any of these promotions, you may already be familiar with receiving a friendly ping on steam chat after each Dota 2 game with some constructive criticism about your performance.
However, if you took the test and quickly unfriended, or skipped it entirely, you’re missing out! GOSU.AI offers concrete, useful stats about each and every one of your Dota 2 matches that you can use to improve.
When you let GOSU.AI analyse your matches, a few different categories will be assigned a ranking from the MMR badge system (Herald through Divine). Each category will be further broken down, with details on what happened and how you can improve.
The Deaths section not only shows you where you died, it gives common reasons. For example, of my three deaths in this match, I should have seen an enemy approaching on a ward once. If you hover over each marker, you’ll see which heroes from both teams were involved in the fight where you died.
Similarly, the Kills section highlights both successful and attempted kills on your part, as well as reasons the kill didn’t work out.
If something like “caught on enemy ward” shows up very frequently, you might want to focus on dewarding or using smokes when making kill attempts. If you’re diving under towers a lot, maybe tone down the FULL DAVAI.
Using the mouse to click to learn abilities, use the shop or even to use active items is less efficient than getting used to learning hotkeys. This section will highlight which of those things you rely on the most, giving a useful overview of what you can focus on for improvement.
To start using GOSU.AI, all you need to do is add their bot to your steam account friends list. An easy way to do that is to head to their website and hit the Dota 2 button, then “Get your Dota 2 Assistant” and “Add in Steam Client”. If you’re logged into Steam in your web browser, the bot will be added to your friends list and will send you a link to your profile on GOSU.AI.
Another feature you can get access to if you befriend the GOSU.AI bot is a cheater detector. The system has been taught to analyze matches for certain types of mouse movement that wouldn't be possible without cheats. GOSU.AI will let you know if you've played with anyone using these cheats in the last seven days - as well as the future, as long as you keep the bot on your friends list. You can find out more about GOSU.AI anti-cheat on their blog post here.
Since GOSU.AI is still a work in progress, the creators are always looking for feedback and suggestions for improvement! You can do so on their social media pages – Twitter, Facebook or vk.
