Supermajor Power Rankings #8 to #1

#8. Mineski

Mineski are the highest placed SEA team in the DPC Rankings and are sitting comfortably in 5th place after their DAC Major victory. There is a scenario where they don't qualify for a direct invite for TI8 but it would rely on a lot of variables. The Mineski roster has remained unchanged through the entire DPC season, and they've finished top 6 at 3 Majors in a row. Mineski will most likely be fighting with Forward Gaming over 2nd place in Group C at the Supermajor, but have the potential to even top the group ahead of Team Secret. Very consistent of late, Mineski rarely go out without a fight.

#7. Team Secret

They're qualified for TI8 already, but momentum is important, and Team Secret have lost a little bit of it recently. In their last five Majors appearances Team Secret have not reached top 4 in any of them, but have placed top 8 in four of them. However, heading into TI8 as a direct invite, this is not the kind of form they want to end the DPC with. The Supermajor format should lend well to Team Secret's expertise, with no bo1s to catch them off guard, and plenty of chances to get into the swing of things in the groupstage.

#6. Vici Gaming

In the first half of the DPC season Vici Gaming excelled, and although a TI8 direct invite is still very much on the table, they've not been as prolific since their 2nd place at the ESL One Katowice Major in February. VG have had very inconsistent results of late, sometimes doing incredibly well such as at the MDL Changsha Major where they placed 3rd or DAC where they placed 6th, while other times crashing out early like they did at the Bucharest and ESL One Birmingham Majors.

Based on the pattern though, the Supermajor should go well for them. Jokes aside, VG have not done well at bo1 groupstage events, but lucky for them the Supermajor will give them to perform as well as we know they can do. VG are on the hunt for their first DPC title after finishing runners-up 4 times this season.

#5. VGJ.Storm

The addition of Roman 'Resolut1on' Fominok is often attributed to the sudden success of VGJ.Storm on the DPC, but the team had been doing pretty well in NA Regionals even before his arrival. However, since Resolut1on became their new mid player, VGJ.Storm won the GESC Thailand Minor, and then went on to finish runners-up behind PSG.LGD at the Changsha Major. This team is especially hot right now, and they're in a group with Team Secret, a team they came back from 0-1 down to beat in the MDL Changsha playoffs a couple of weeks ago. There's nothing to say this team will not go far, and anything outside of top 8 would be a surprise.

#4. Optic

Runners-up at the Birmingham Major, Optic Gaming have everything to play for. A last minute replacement for OG, Optic Gaming have been gifted a second chance to earn a direct invite to TI8, and nothing short of top 4 at the Supermajor will guarantee it. Although they did benefit from ESL's format at the Birmingham Major and suffered a rather brutal defeat to VP in the Grand Finals, Optic Gaming are really finding their groove recently, and we can see them going far at the Supermajor, especially considering top 2 in group D looks very doable for them.

#3. Liquid

The TI7 champions were the second team to secure their direct invite to TI8, and have probably the easiest group of them all at the Supermajor, with Na'Vi, Newbee and Team Spirit drawn with them in Group A. Liquid's record against Newbee is exceptional, as is their record against Na'Vi, making pole position in Group A almost a certainty. In terms of results Team Liquid have been not as deadly in the last month or so, but overall you can not deny Liquid's record over the course of the entire season is beaten only by Virtus Pro's. Interestingly Team Liquid as an organisation have never won a Major, even under the old system, and if you're going to win a Major, why not make it a Supermajor?

#2. PSG.LGD

LGD Gaming looked like a broken team after the first few months of the DPC, but came back stronger than ever after the reshuffle period. Winners of the China Regionals, PSG.LGD won back-to-back Majors last month. At EPICENTER XL they took down the giants VP in a 2-1 victory, and in the Changsha Major they did a run through the entire lower-bracket to be crowned winners. PSG.LGD is a phenomenal team at the moment and if there was any challenger to Virtus Pro's dominance, it's them.

#1. Virtus Pro

Virtus Pro, the team that is almost getting so good it's sickening. Virtus Pro have won FOUR Majors on the DPC this season, and have shown no interest in slowing down at all after qualifying for a TI8 direct invite back in March. At the Birmingham Major they were untouchable, and they didn't even look like they were trying. Historically in the last 3 years the team that won the last major event before TI, won TI, and the Supermajor could very well be a repeat of Birmingham, where fans are trying to work out who the hell can actually stop them. If Virtus Pro could make it FIVE Majors out of nine that would be truly remarkable, and at the moment it's looking like the Supermajor is theirs for the taking.
