joinDOTA Time Walk — when ChuaN and Co. destroyed Team DK in a bo7

In this week's edition of the joinDOTA Time Walk, we look back exactly four years to the playoffs of WPC 2014, when DK* played against Invictus Gaming in the Grand Finals.

EternalEnVy can't stop ChuaN

The Grand Final performance by Invictus Gaming was impressive, but first they had to combat one of the Western squads: Cloud9. Jacky 'EternaLEnVy' Mao, Wehsing 'SingSing' Yuen and Co. fell behind after a tough 30 minute loss in game one, but were able to fight back.

The combination of Bat Rider and Io worked out perfectly for them. It worked so well, that they decided to use the same combo in game three - but this time with the better ending for iG. The Chinese squad took this momentum and beat Newbee with 2:0, the same Newbee that would win The International 2014 later that year.

To victory in seven

On the other side of the tournament bracket, DK was able to beat out Titan* and Alliance to reach the Grand Finals and face off against iG.

While the earlier games all were quick affairs, the Grand Finals turned out to be significantly longer: iG was able to win game on after almost 64 minutes - but not even this monumental marathon was the real highlight of that matchup: the second game, also won bei iG, was 40 minutes longer and hit the ridiculous 100 minute mark.

Both teams seemed exhausted and lost some of their focus - DK used it to their advantage and was able to beat iG in game three. ChuaN and his team were shaken up by this loss, but still managed to fight back - Luo 'Xi' Yinqi stuck to Lycan and was able to win his team two more games, this time way faster.

iG won the tournament and consequently went on to win ESL One Frankfurt 2014. Even though the dream of winning a second TI didn't come true - the WPC 2014 was one of their biggest triumphs that year.
