OG parts ways with Resolut1on. Team no longer eligible for TI8 invite

OG announced today that ua Roman 'Resolut1on' Fominok has left the organisation after a series of lackluster performances from the team in 2018.

"There are times when change is necessary" - OG
ua Roman 'Resolut1on' Fominok's addition to OG post-TI7 was one of the biggest roster changes of the moment, especially considering his impressive performance as a stand-in for ru Team Empire at TI7, where he helped them to place top 8. Resolut1on was brought in as a replacement for au Anathan 'ana' Pham but despite first place at the MDL Minor in December seemingly the start of OG's comeback, the team has underperformed in 2018.

"The start of the 2017-2018 Dota 2 season was a rocky one; we were sure it was only a matter of time before our new roster gelled into top form. We overcame our dry spell last autumn and placed first at Mars Dota League’s Macau Minor last December. 2018 was looking promising," said OG in the announcement of Resolut1on's departure.

Unfortunately, there are times when change is necessary―our lackluster performances so far this year have made this clear. We are announcing the release of Roman “Resolut1on” Fomynok; an accomplished pro in his own right. This decision did not come easily. To Roman: you’ve been an inspiration with your drive and passion and we wish you success in your future endeavors!"

OG did not share which player will be replacing Resolut1on in the mid-lane, but they did reveal that the team's coach fr Sebastien 'Ceb' Debs will be stepping in to play for the team at the upcoming DreamLeague Minor next week.

In the official announcement ua Roman 'Resolut1on' Fominok had this to say:
"I’m very happy that I was a part of OG. Guys, Tal, Jesse, Gustav, Seb, Johan, Evany, thanks for the priceless experience and knowledge that I got during that time. I’m hoping that this decision will benefit all of us."

OG no longer eligible for direct invite to TI8 or Regionals
OG's decision to change roster will have a significant impact on their TI8 campaign, as it means they are no longer eligible for an invite and will forfeit the 630 DPC Points they already accumulated. Before the change OG were ranked 10th on the DPC Rankings.

What if a team wants to change its roster after the roster lock, but prior to The International? (from Valve FAQ)

"Invites to The International (both direct and to regional qualifiers) are given to teams based on their registered roster. Teams that want to play with a roster that differs from their registered roster are ineligible for direct or regional qualifier invites to The International."

OG's record on the Pro Circuit in 2018
Captain's Draft Minor - 3-4th place
ESL One Katowice Major - 7th-8th place
The Bucharest Major - 9th-11th place
