TI8 to be held in Vancouver in late August
Rumours were circling that TI8 would not be held in Key Arena but few would have imagined Valve would up and move the event to Vancouver, Canada. Although considering Vancouver is the closest major city to Seattle, it is not perhaps as surprising as many might think. What is more given changes to legislation for travel visas in the United States, moving the event to Canada might help alleviate some of those issues.
The International 8 main event will take place from Monday 20th to Saturday 25th August in the Rogers Arena in Vancouver. The Rogers Arena is an indoors sports arena and currently serves as the home of the ice hockey team the Vancouver Canucks. The official capacity of the venue is 18,910, roughly 2,000 more than Seattle's Key Arena.
The only other time a Valve International has been held outside of the United States was for TI1 in 2011 which was held in Cologne, Germany.
