New EG stands up well to Secret but unable to take series
Mid lane was a death zone in Game 3 (DOTABUFF)
Team Secret made their way past the new EG in the quarter-finals of the single elimination bracket, eventually winning 2-1 after EG managed to force a third game. The third game was the closest of the three and the two teams both had some great moments.

In the third game Shane on the analyst panel predicted Evil Geniuses' fate before the game even started, noticing the potential for destruction for Yapzor's Skywrath Mage and MidOne's Pugna should FATA manage to duel his enemies.

The early game was Secret's but as the game went on their frail line-up suffered the wrath of ca Artour 'Arteezy' Babaev's Shadow Fiend and us Clinton 'Fear' Loomis's Gyrocopter. Secret were going all in on Ace's Luna and FATA's Legion Commander being able to drop EG low enough for the rest of the team to finish them off, and they walked such a fine line to grind out the victory.

Pugna and Vengeful Spirit were slain so many times in the latter stages of the game but when the big fights came around Secret came out on top. With Ace's Luna able to drag fights out with Butterfly and later Sanatic it gave Yapzor and MidOne room to work their magic. A great game for MidOne on Pugna, a hero he has only played 5 times competitively in the last year.

Mineski not so sharp as EG when faced with Secret
Their second series versus Mineski was much easier and they encountered little in terms of resistance from the SEA team.

The first game was proof of just how ridiculously strong Chaos Knight can be when the opposing team lacks effective wave clear. By 34 minutes Ace's Chaos Knight had BKB, Heart of Tarrasque and Assault Cuirass, and Mineski were putting so many resources into trying to kill him, that they left MidOne time and space on Ember Spirit. MidOne had been dealt with early game and suffered 3 deaths in the first 12 minutes, but with CK causing mischief he was left to farm and ultimately destroy Mineski, with FATA's Reverse Polarity making things a little easier.

Pub nightmare Slark makes a visit to Mineski town

Ace's Slark runs rampant in Game 2 versus Mineski
In Game 2 dk Marcus 'Ace' Hoelgaard's Slark was left to run rampant in game 1 after a comfortable bottom lane against sg Daryl Koh 'iceiceice' Pei Xiang's Solo Phoenix. Meanwhile Secret read th Anucha 'Jabz' Jirawong's Pudge like a book, which is unsurprising considering it's a hero they themselves used earlier in the competition. Although to be fair he did manage to deny himself using Rot three times. We've all had pub games where Slark is left to destroy a lane and later just won't leave us alone, so hopefully you can empathise with Mineski.

Secret went for an unusual support Wraith King for captain ee Clement 'Puppey' Ivanov, the result of the limited hero pool in Captains Draft mode, and he was a big initiator alongside de Adrian 'Fata' Trinks's Tidehunter. The fact he made the hero work with nothing but Brown Boots, Helm of the Dominator, a Magic Wand and a Spirit Vessel was pretty impressive.

The result puts Team Secret in their third Pro Circuit Grand Finals, having finished 2nd at the ESL One Hamburg Major and 1st at the DreamLeague Major.

Mushi's Astral
A popular talking point from the game was my Chai 'Mushi' Yee Fung's Astral Imprisonment on my Yeik Nai 'MidOne' Zheng. Mineski 4-man smoked to kill MidOne but Mushi blinked in only to accidentally Astral himself instead of MidOne, who was able to Remnant away to safety.
