ru Vega Squadron * recently announced that they're trying out some new players in official matches. With a win in their opening Starladder | i-League Invitational #4 qualifier match, these two fresh faces might be exactly what Vega needs. Vega Squadron #Dota2 roster for today's match against HFZ: 1. Palantimos 2. @GTHEMALL 3. Blizzy 4. @ALOHAD4NCE 5. @c_slayerRR #Dota2 #OnlyVega pic.twitter.com/p8ORuetYN2— Vega Squadron (@VegaSquadron) December 18, 2017

Since this roster was only announced for the match against ru TpB, it's not clear whether the team plans to keep these players in the long run. The two new players are by Nikita 'Palantimos' Grinkevich and kg Evgeniy 'Blizzy' Ree, two relative newcomers to the CIS scene. With the new players, ua Ilya 'AlohaDance' Korobkin has returned to the support role to make room for Palantimos. Blizzy is playing offlane to fill in for ru Vasily 'Afterlife' Shishkin, who was benched earlier this month.

Their teamwork was put to the test last night in a do-or-die situation. The StarLadder qualifiers are single elimination, and Vega very nearly didn't make it past the first round. Their opponents, HFZ, made a comeback in the first game and held a strong lead late into the second game, but Vega managed to make a comeback of their own before sealing the deal with a dominant performance in Game 3. According to Vega's coach, some motivational speeches may have played a part.

Never thought I'd get good at inspirational speeches... but four months of 🦈🤔 have given me valuable life skills. Think that by now I can talk anyone out of (into?) anything. GGWP to HFZ, they pushed us to the limit!— Muriëlle ''Kips'' Huisman (@Kipspul) December 18, 2017

The new Vega roster will make their next appearance against ru Team Empire in the Semifinal round of the StarLadder CIS Qualifier on Dec 20 at 15:00 CET.
