First season of Midas Mode sadly comes to an end. "REGINALDDDDD!!..."

The first-ever Midas Mode drew to its conclusion earlier this evening, and after 10 days of competition the champions of the EU and NA division were both crowned.

First season a huge success, all winnings to go to charities
Midas Mode was the first Dota 2 tournament to use a virtual currency to determine what heroes teams could pick and ban while also offering teams community suggested quests to earn some extra "Moonbucks". Midas Mode was seperated into two divisions NA and EU with 4 teams in each.

Despite the unusual format and the fact the event was not part of the Valve Pro Circuit, Moonduck still managed to attract the interest of many big names including the TI7 champions eu Team Liquid, quadruple Major champions eu OG and the likes of us Evil Geniuses and ua Natus Vincere. Ahead of the first day of Midas Mode the participating teams all announced they would be giving away any winnings from the tournament to a charity of their choice.

PPD's Optic win NA division ahead of Evil Geniuses
In the NA division it was a triumph for us Peter 'ppd' Dager's Optic Gaming who came out the victors ahead of Evil Geniuses, VGJ.Storm and usca Immortals*.

In the Grand Finals versus VGJ.Storm the bank balance of both teams was super tight, so much so that in Game 3 VGJ.Storm simply GGed out with all tier 3 towers and barracks still standing after working out Optic Gaming had under 200 Moonbucks left for game 4. Optic however, closed out the series 3-2 in the end to become the NA champions despite using us Kartik 'Kitrak' Rathi as a stand-in for dk Rasmus 'rASmus' Fillipsen in the Grand Finals.

TI7 champs Liquid win EU division with Moonbucks to spare
Meanwhile in Europe the TI7 champions eu Team Liquid went 3-0 in the groupstage and eventually faced ua Natus Vincere in The Grand FInals. Navi had unfortunately been quite the spenders in the run-up to the Grand Finals and ahead of Game 1 their opponents Team Liquid had four times as many Moonbucks to spend on heroes.

PPD and Matu call up Mr Midas to decline Cross Regional Finals
A Cross-Regional Grand Finals was initially planned for the tournament which would have pitted world OpTic Gaming versus eu Team Liquid, but the match was later cancelled. Thankfully us Peter 'ppd' Dager and fi Lasse 'Matumbaman' Urpalainen called in to tell Mr Midas the news...

The tournament created many popular memes and the epileptic-inducing ad breaks during pauses for Bomb Sauce and Alien Piss III went down surprisingly well with viewers.
