3 Chinese teams in the top 3 at Perfect World Masters
Ten teams competed at the Perfect World Masters in Shanghai over the last week and it was the Chinese teams who came out on top. Team Secret were left without my Yeik Nai 'MidOne' Zheng after personal issues forced him to leave the event while Mineski, who placed top 2 in their previous two Minors, were one of the first teams to be eliminated.

Perfect World extended direct invites to TI7 2nd and 3rd place finishers cn Newbee and cn LGD.Forever Young, and also had two spots going to the Chinese Regional winners. By the end of the tournament, all top 3 spaces were filled by Chinese teams with NA Regional winners us compLexity Gaming in 5th place.

cn Vici Gaming, who topped group A ended up in the Grand Finals after defeating cn LGD.Forever Young, the only team to take a match off them in the groups. VG faced cn Newbee in the final match of the tournament, the TI7 runners-up who had yet to make a Grand Finals on the Pro Circuit. The two teams had met in the winner-bracket finals the day before with Newbee coming back to win 2-1 despite suffering a heavy loss in Game 1.

In the Grand Finals earlier today, Newbee delivered an emphatic performance with cn Song 'Sccc' Chun in particularly brilliant form. The Newbee mid player also picked up two awards, one for Best Mid Player of the Year and the other for Player of the Year during the closing ceremony. Newbee took the Grand Finals 3-0 with the first two games heavily one-sided.

What proved to be the final game of the Grand Finals was much closer as VG's cn Zhang 'Eurus' Chengjun demonstrated what carnage can be created from an overfarmed Morphling. It was close but Newbee still finished the final game with all tier 3 towers and barracks still standing.

It is the second time on the Pro Circuit that Vici Gaming have finished runners-up, having placed 2nd at the DotaPit Minor after a narrow 3-2 defeat to eu Team Liquid earlier this month.



Newbee now the highest ranking Chinese team

In terms of TI8 Qualifying Points the Perfect World Masters victory allowed Newbee to overtake my Mineski in the leaderboards and climb from 5th to 4th place. Newbee are now the highest ranked Chinese team with 1,035 TI8 Qualifying Points. In third place above them is Team Liquid at 1,350 after the TI7 champions secured two Minors titles.







The Perfect World closing ceremony was quite the spectacle, with a ballet dancer and an unexpected singing performance from veteran players cn Xu 'BurNIng' Zhilei and cn Bai 'rOtK' Fan:
