Multi-game esports organization usca Immortals* have signed Team Phoenix, the currently NA based roster of Korean players best known for their time under the MVP Phoenix banner. Introducing a new chapter in the Immortals legacy. The roster was first announced a little under two weeks ago with a simple tweet from QO listing their roster. The five players were exactly the same five that took 5th-6th at TI6 and were a fan favourite, so their return was celebrated around the community.

The Immortals organization may have already had their eye on the squad, because just a few days later the org released a YouTube video in which their CEO announced his intent to acquire a Dota 2 team. In the video, he promised to "[create] a level of behind the scenes content that isn't seen at this point in Dota."

Immortals have played a few matches so far as Team Phoenix, but it wouldn't be surprising if you missed them as they were in Starladder | i-League Invitational #3 open qualifiers. They were also meant to replace Iceberg in BTS' King's Cup (and inherit that team's current record), but the decision was reversed three days later.

Their first non-open qualifier showing will be either StarLadder or or PGL Open: Bucharest closed qualifiers, both of which kick off on Sept 18. Immortals had to fight their way into StarLadder, but were directly invited to PGL regionals.
