Vega Squadron have been one of the stronger teams in the CIS region for a couple of years now. The squad took 2nd place in The International 2015 European qualifiers, and shocked the scene by winning ESL One New York 2015 shortly afterward. However, three of the members of that roster have since moved on to join

Several strong players have passed through Vega's ranks, but never stuck around long enough. Now, Vega have kept a team together since March of this year, and it seems that they're ready to try to take the team to the next level.
Kipspul has historically worked with teams in Southeast Asia, but as she said in her blog explaining her decision to leave TNC, she was looking for a new challenge. That challenge might have come in SEA, but Vega Squadron were keen to have her on board.
"We wanted to start working with Murielle before the Kiev Major, but there was less than a week befor the qualifiers and we were just scared of ruining everything - it looked like the team found it's game," said Vega's esports Director Georgy "drAmer" Faleev in the team's announcement. "So, Kipspul left to TNC for half a year, but immediately after her return from the SEA-region, we resumed our negotiations."
The current Vega Squadron roster has already shown some signs of strength in the lead-up to TI7. They came close to for Seattle with a 3rd place finish in the qualifier, took 4th in DreamLeague Season 7 and qualified for Starladder | i-League Invitational #2, taking 5th-6th at the LAN event. It doesn't seem to be a stretch of the imagination to say that this team has potential.
