is GG, formerly known as Team Freedom, have joined the Vici Gaming organization to become VGJ.Storm, while the first VGJ squad have been renamed to VGJ.Thunder. Three of the five VGJ.Storm members played together as Team Freedom in The International 2017 North American qualifiers, and came very close to qualifying for the main event. The squad tied with Team NP for first in the round robin, but lost the tiebreaker match and the first slot. They played on in the playoff round, but were eliminated by Digital Chaos in the Grand Final, placing 3rd in the qualifier.

The team reappeared as is GG for the ROG Masters Americas Regional qualifier, where they took 1st, grabbing them a spot at the Regional LAN final later this year. Since both us Quinn 'CCnC' Callahan and pk Yawar 'YawaR' Hassan had since moved on, Ritsu and 747 joined to take their places.

Now, the NA Dota squad are part of the ever-growing group of Vici Gaming teams. This isn't the first time a Chinese organization has signed an international team, but it doesn't happen too often. If you're thinking that the players should be worried about communication barriers between them and their new organization they have nothing to fear in that regard at least. The team has also announced that translator/Chinese Dota expert Jack "KBBQ" Chen is the Team Director.

It will be interesting to see how VGJ.Storm fares in the coming season. Their first test will be in BeyondtheSummit's King's Cup: America, where they will fight for a spot in the upcoming BTS Minor.

The VGJ.Storm roster:
us Ravi 'ritsu' Kodippili
us Eric 'Ryoya' Dong
us JingJun 'Sneyking' Wu
us Francis 'FLee' Lee
us Stanley 'Stan King' Yang
