Both Puppey and pie were the core of Team Secret for a long time. Puppey was a founding member of the team, while pie had been with the squad since August 2015.
In the post-TI6 shuffle, they brought in three new members that signalled an interesting shift for the team. Where before they had only played with European and North American players, the three newcomers came from the SEA scene - two from
MVP Phoenix* ( Pyo 'MP' Noa and Sang-Don 'FoREv' Lee) and 
Yeik Nai 'MidOne' Zheng, who had somewhat recently broken into top tier Dota 2 on 
Fnatic.Secret's first appearance of the season in the MarsTV Dota 2 League 2016 - Autumn Season LAN in September was a promising start, but it felt more like a result of the aftermath of roster shuffle season, and as other teams began to shape up on the road to The Boston Major, Team Secret fell behind.
After failing to qualify for the first Major in the team's history, Secret quickly made a roster change. A week after the qualifier and just a few days before the start of ROG MASTERS (to which Secret had been directly invited),
Sang-Don 'FoREv' Lee was dropped and 
Maurice 'KheZu' Gutmann became Secret's new offlaner.Secret won ROG MASTERS with their brand new offlaner. It wasn't the most competitive LAN in the world, but nonetheless it must have been a valuable confidence boost for the roster.
