The tenth season of D2CL kicked off today with a pair of best of one matches, starting with Comanche vs NiP followed by Vega vs Insane People. D2CL Season 10 began with a series of open qualifiers to find eight teams to join eight more directly invited teams. The invites were announced via Twitter last week. Each direct invite team faces an open qualifier team in a best of one, making it tough task for any qualified team to make it to the quarterfinals. The prize pool is $5000 USD with $2500 reserved for the winner.

Playoff Bracket

Comanche vs Ninjas in Pyjamas

ru Comanche* went for an odd draft, taking Terrorblade and Dazzle first. Of course, that gave eu Ninjas in Pyjamas* the opening to grab Axe. The draft continued without any surprises until the end, when Comanche grabbed a last pick Meepo.

The Meepo gave NiP some headaches, but the rest of the team weren’t as difficult to handle and NiP kept their cool, took the lead and gave didn’t give Comanche any chances to come back.

Meepo Hide-and-Seek

While this isn’t the first time NiP have won a game as a team, this best of one victory is technically their first series win.

Seems like we won a game boys! GG's @ComancheGG #GONINJAS— Adrian Kryeziu (@EraDota) February 14, 2017

Vega vs Insane People
eu Insane People* lived up to their name, and went for a crazy five man deathball in the early game. It worked to begin with and they took a few kills on ru Sergey 'God' Bragin’s Lone Druid, but after sticking together so long and greedily building two Hands of Midas on their supports, they started to fall behind and ru Dmitriy 'Ditya-Ra' Minenkov’s Lycan and G picked up more items.

Around the 25 minute mark, Vega were in control of the game and began knocking down towers with their strong pushing heroes. G topped things off with a Rampage in Insane People’s base as they called GG.

And @VegaSquadron take the 1st game on #D2CL Season 10. Congratulations, guys :)The next D2CL game will be tomorrow at 15CET, see you soon! pic.twitter.com/kkZ8vR6h0s— D2CL (@d2cleague) February 14, 2017
