by Artem 'fng' Barshack has done away with his golden locks over the summer as well as his former team Virtus Pro. The former Navi and VP captain is now the new face of Vega Squadron, who begin the season with a quarter-final match versus Alliance in the EU qualifiers for WCA 2016. In the TI6 qualifiers the CIS teams, Vega included, did not perform well and none made it through the European qualifiers.

Vega's new roster incase you missed the news:

by Artem 'fng' Barshack (Captain)
ua Rostislav 'fn' Lozovoi
ua Bogdan 'Iceberg' Vasilenko
ua Andrey 'Mag' Chipenko
ua Krivulya 'Cema' Semion

Alliance will use a stand-in Akke's absence
Alliance fans should not panic about the absence of se Joakim 'Akke' Akterhall during today's match, as he is currently on holiday with his girlfriend in Hong Kong, which is why Alliance will be using a stand-in for the match.

WCA Qualifiers with a $54,000 prizepool
The WCA 2016 EU Qualifiers much like their predecessors are the only qualifiers to reward top finishers with prizemoney. Despite the prizepool being significantly less than last year, dropping from $97,500 to $54,000, it is still a substantial amount for an 8 team qualifier.

So far eu Ninjas in Pyjamas* have bounced back from their round 1 exit in the playoffs of TI6 to qualify for the semi-finals following a victory over the new ru Team Empire, securing themselves at least 4th place.

WCA Qualifiers prize money
1st place: $27,140
2nd place: $13,570
3rd place: $6,785
4th-8th place: $1,357
