Kuro S. 'KuroKy' Takhasomi once again proved why he is one of the best supports in the world. His Chen micro skills allowed for
Adrian 'Fata' Trinks's Viper to snowball and created space for their carry Necrophos to win the best-of-one against compLexity.
The high-ground seigeAfter securing their spot to the Shanghai Majors,
compLexity Gaming had a tough start to their Starladder journey facing European powerhouse
Team Liquid. Although they banned
Jesse 'JerAx' Vainikka's Earth Spirit, they allowed Tusk to slip by and which immediately got picked up by the Europeans. Whether it was an oversight or a lack of awareness on how deadly the hero can be in Liquid's hands, KuroKy managed to sneak the Chen for himself. This pick proved to be the key hero in securing their victory.
The German support player managed to find and control a Satyr Tormenter early on. While still farming the neutral camps, KuroKy used his Satyr to flank and gank the mid Death Prophet. It might be that
Linus 'Limmp' Blomdin underestimated the nuke from the Satyr or that he was just overconfident. Either way the Swedish mid player gave first blood falling to the Satyr. After a second rotation from the Chen creeps to the mid securing two kills, the game tilted heavily in Liquid's favour. Paired with JerAx's crucial rotations ending up with kills, Liquid pushed down 3 towers in just under 13 minutes.
There were instances where viewers and even casters LD and Luminous thought were comebacks, especially after crucial fights in which
Kyle 'Kyle' Freedman's Bristleback seemed to obliterate Liquid. Sadly, the graphs tell a different story. Although there were fights in which Liquid lost 4 of their heroes,
Lasse 'Matumbaman' Urpalainen was always the lone survivor. Not even once did he fall to the hands of his enemies, always making sure to find farm despite the setbacks.
Liquid's dominance in terms of graphFATA- chose to build a Dragon Lance on the Viper. This item was only bought 13 times in all 66 Viper games this patch. This paid off as the damage and the increase in attack range allowed the German mid player deal damage at a safer distance. This enabled him to play a lot more aggressively, thereby keeping compLexity at bay.
With such a huge lead and an Aegis on the Necrophos it was time for the high-ground push. CompLexity's effort to defend their base proved futile as their heroes fell in mere seconds. Chen's Penitence coupled with Viper's damage and range ensured the kills and the Necrophos' Aghanim-upgraded Reaper's Scythe kept the dead from buying back.
#coLDOTA fall to @TeamLiquidDota2 in the SL i-League, GGs! In approximately 1 hour we will be back to face @TeamVirtusPRO
— compLexity Gaming (@compLexityLive) January 13, 2016Upon seeing that compLexity was team-wiped and Chen still had his Ancient creeps, Liquid recognised that this was their golden opportunity. They immediately went for the tier-4 towers and forced the Americans to concede defeat.
