posted by kipspul,
It is now official: Burden United, the team of SingSing and ComeWithMe, has ceased to be. The squad has disbanded just after ESL Frankfurt, the tournament for which they originally came together. They gained some notable results, including a third place at D2CL Season 5 and a 5th place at DreamLeague Season 3. The team's story, and a statement from their manager, are inside.

eu Burden United, as their name suggests, was a team mostly consisting of well-known players that had been kicked from or left their original teams. When the team was first assembled it featured the following roster:

The team had an awkward start in their first official matches in the qualifier run for ESL Frankfurt, taking consecutive 2-0 losses against Hellraisers and Vega Squadron and getting eliminated immediately.

But Burden United stuck together. The team's first success came after Bamboe left for eu Mamas Boys*; ex-Sigma member fr Titouan 'Sockshka' Merloz stood in during the Hitbox EU championship. Burden United took revenge on Hellraisers and won the cup 3-0.

BU gets third place at D2CL.

The team's biggest success followed in D2CL Season 3. After eu MeePwn'd* disbanded, Burden United took their spot, and in a surprise move dominated the EU group phase with an 11-3 score. They struggled in the follow-up bracket, falling 2-0 to Team Empire, but by beating NiP 2-1 they ended up third after a lower-bracket defeat to cn Vici Gaming.

Their stint at the top of EU dota was short. Burden United's second big tournament result was at DreamLeague Season 5, and it was also their last. Here they narrowly missed the main stage, getting eliminated 2-0 by se Ninjas in Pyjamas* for a fifth place finish.

Burden United were invitees for the TI5 EU qualifiers, but with a score of 3 draws and one loss they failed to make it out of the heavy groupstage. After this disappointing result the team struggled to get their morale back up. Their motivational problems seemed to come to a head during the finals of the ProDota Cup, where BU forfeited the third game of their BO5 finals match against by Power Rangers*, making the score 3-0 and handing over the win to the Russians.

Well,i guess we disbanded, now it's official. Gonna try to finish the games left if possible with whoever will want to play.— ComeWithMe (@cwmdota) June 27, 2015

Statement by Burden United's manager, Joe Eastham

"I firstly want to thank all the fans who have supported us since February. None of us could have forseen the level of committment from so many fans (and betters).

Thank you also to the tournaments we've partaken in, and those which we've been invited to. In our 5 months we've achieved a lot, but unfortunately missed out on the big prize of The International.

Since then, and like many other teams we lacked motivation which eventually led to our downfall which was decided late last night.

Finally, a big thanks to my players, all of whom I've become friends with and who gave me the opportunity to manage a fun team!

I encourage everyone to follow all the guys to see their upcoming ventures!"

Burden United are still involved in one tournament, the Game Show Invitational, where they have at least one match against Power Rangers to play. At the moment of writing it is uncertain who will play for BU in this matchup.
