THe DailyDot reports Valve may have done away with plans for third-party organisers
Sources within several esports organizations, however, say they were informed today that Valve will be running all Dota majors in the same way it runs The International: It will control all aspects of organizing the tournaments and will only collaborate with other tournament organizers from a broadcast production standpoint
Richard Lewis on The DailyDot
Assuming the decision has been made by Valve there will be repercussions across the board, but the prospect of the four quarterly tournaments will be especially ominous for third-party organisers looking to get a piece of the pie.
If The International as well as the autumn, winter and spring event are organised in-house by Valve, it would mean third-party organisers will have to place their tournaments inbetween them, meaning even more competition between the likes of Starladder, D2CL, MLG, ESL One and Dreamhack.
Furthermore, a league looking to run a season for 1-2 months may no longer be viable, and we may see more tournament organisers look to have a much shorter online section similar to ESL One Frankfurt.
The news of this decision was posted by Richard Lewis on The Daily Dot, and his article also mentioned that the first Dota 2 Major is apparently set for November, with the following two events in February and May. Assuming DAC is the February event, that leaves us with two brand new Valve events to look forward to.

What do you think? If this is true, is it good or bad news for Dota 2?
