Virtus.Pro drop their DOTA 2 roster, focusing instead on ASUS.Polar

ru Virtus.Pro announced earlier today that they have parted ways with their DOTA 2 roster, stipulating that they would instead be focusing on their secondary squad ua ASUS.Polar leading up to The International 5 later this year. Although VP's management has still not confirmed replacements for their recently departed ASUS.Polar members ua Andrey 'Mag' Chipenko and ua Olexandr 'DkPhobos' Kucherya.

VP’s decision to drop their DOTA 2 roster comes after a string of poor performances from the Russian squad, who have struggled to maintain form in the New Year. There is no word yet as to whether or not the team will continue without their sponsor, but the disbandment of the team would make prominent CIS players such as ru Sergey 'God' Bragin and ru Vadim 'Sedoy' Musorin free agents.

VP originally formed in the wake of TI4 when ru Stanislav 'BzzIsPerfect' Glushan, ru Vladimir 'Yol' Basov and ru Vadim 'Sedoy' Musorin joined the squad. Despite their recent shortcomings the team did experience some success in their time together, claiming first place at MSI-Beat.IT and several other international LAN events.

[translated] Statement from VP management:

The team was formed immediately after TI4, and before the New Year had some very good results, showing if not stable, but an upward trend. However a lack of normal discipline and motivation prevented the first team to go to the finals of the second season of ah League, and then prepare for DAC, this showed that at this stage the team was not able to achieve what was necessary for a decent performance at TI5. We carried out several structural changes to the team that changed things for the better, but now, in the period before TI5 progress is unsatisfactory, and I decided not to take the boys last chance for a decent performance at TI5 more suitable for each of them collective. Good luck to all the players and thanks for the work done as part of the job.

The organization has said that they will now focus on their secondary roster ASUS.Polar, who have had some promising results in the last few months, finishing second at the Starladder 11 LAN Finals in January. However, with the squad recently losing both ua Andrey 'Mag' Chipenko and ua Olexandr 'DkPhobos' Kucherya their future is uncertain. They will need to stabilize their roster soon in order to have any chance at securing an invite to the fifth iteration of The International.
