DAC DAY 3: Na’Vi and HR cause upsets!

Day three of the DAC Asian Championship saw eu Team Secret extend their lead over the competition, finishing the day with an impressive 10-0 score. In comparison us Evil Geniuses struggled to keep up, after ua Natus Vincere and ru HellRaisers managed to end their reign of dominance. The Americans are now tied with cn Vici Gaming; who have been climbing the ladder consistently after a shaky start on day 1.


world Cloud 9 managed to start day three with a much needed win over ph Rave, ending their day 2 losing streak and relegating their Filipino opponents to the middle order of the group. However, as Rave continued to move down the order veteran team cn Big God continued to climb, taking down cn CDEC.Douyu to tie themselves with Vici Gaming on 5-2.

Losing streaks were not the only thing being broken in the early stages of day three, as Na’Vi managed to upset Evil Geniuses in a nail biting finish. Not only did the Ukrainian squad end EG’s seven game undefeated streak; they also maintained their momentum after winning all of their day two matches. EG’s loss also provided an opportunity for Secret to claim pole position in the group; after they overcame kr MVP.Phoenix to claim their 8th win.

As day three past the half way point it was becoming increasingly clear that remainder of the day would be pivotal for many of the top order teams. Vici gaming were first to distinguish themselves, claiming an important victory over Na’Vi, who came into the matchup with the momentum of five consecutive wins behind them. Secret also pushed further ahead, maintaining their undefeated streak with a hard fought win over a struggling cn Newbee.

Vici’s win over Na’Vi put even more pressure on EG, who desperately needed a round six win to stabilize their position in the group. But ru Hellraisers had other plans in mind, utilizing ru Artyom ’Artes’ Gorobey’s sniper to shoot the Americans into a three way tie with VG and Big God. However, the deadlock was short lived, with Big God losing their final match versus cn Invictus Gaming to leave both EG and Vici sharing second on 7-2.

By the end of the day Team Secret had managed to extend their lead in the group, perched atop the bracket with a 10-0 score. Evil Geniuses had lost significant ground after their back to back losses and now share second position with Vici Gaming. However CIS teams Natus Vincere and Hellraisers had the most success in day three, causing multiple upsets to continue their ascent into the top eight. Tomorrow will be make or break for many of the top order squads, with competition heating up to see who will make it into the coveted top eight seeding and who will fall into the sudden death bottom eight bracket.
