Evil Geniuses have announced their withdrawal from the event, citing schedule problems and exhaustion.
Team EG as the StarLadder Season X ChampionsUnfortunately these developments are nothing new for the western scene, with
Team Secret and 
Cloud9 both withdrawing from D2L last month, giving similar reasons to EG for their departure. This has opened up the floor for speculation about a supposed over saturation of western Dota 2 events.Statement from EG regarding their withdrawal:
Hey guys, unforunately I have some bad news as Evil Geniuses Dota 2 will be withdrawing from Starladder Season 11. With 2014 coming to a close, we've been exhausted from travel as a team. In the last 6 months I think we've been sleeping in hotel beds longer than we have been in our own. And this, along with the fact that we haven't played any games yet in the season, are the sole reasons we're pulling out of Starladder. We will still play out the remaining tournaments that we're in, including DotaPit and D2L and afterwards, we plan on spacing out our LAN commitments. I want to thank Andrey (x3m4eg) who has been nothing but helpful, understanding and professional during every single Starladder we've attended and competed at. We look forward to being in season 12 again.
In response to this, StarLadder management also released their own official statement:
We fully understand the situation EG are having now. Successful performance has turned out to guys being exhausted by flights. They simply cannot perform as they are expected in such condition, they simply need to rest. We know from our own experience what longflights are, so there are absolutely no claims from our side. We will be glad to meet guys in 12th season - fresh, new and ready to win.
StarLadder has since also announced that
Wheel (DurpDurp, Sleisel, imasheepsux, Cak3z, ReLiC) will be the replacement for Team EG. Now that the defending champions have exited starladder the floor has opened up for yet another team to join the coveted ranks of Starladder LAN victors.Who do you think will take home the Starladder XI title?
