Game 24: Man of the Match [A] vs TT

posted by 3ntr0py,
We take a look at who really stood out from the crowd as world Team Tinker turned a 2-0 down disadvantage to se Alliance into a best-of-5 victory, in one of the closest, double-rapier, 5-man Chrono, action packed fifth games anyone has seen in a long while. We decided who was the Man of the Match.

Man of the Match: Qojqva
Post TI stats for qojqva Games: 39Average K/D/A:6.2/3.4/9.0Average GPM:499Average XPM: 528Most Played:Nature's Prophet, Death ProphetThis series truly was one for the ages. With all 5 games played, and excellent performances from both sides of the map, it could only have been more exciting if Roshan had started wandering around the map handing out Rapiers. All this excitement in the NVIDIA Game 24 invitational made it incredibly difficult to make a decision about who really stood out throughout the series. However, the JoinDota staff reached the verdict that the Man of the Match should go to de Max 'qoqjva' Broecker!

Team Tinker entered the series with a bit of a rough start, losing their first two games convincingly to Alliance, seemingly unable to deal with the coordinated teamfight strategies coming out of the (mostly) Swedish camp. No individual player really let TT down, with the commentators highlighting a lack of synchronicity in their draft. One element appeared consistent though, with Qojqva's Batrider being the only beacon of hope towards the end of both games with his lightning fast reflexes wasting smokes, and securing valuable pickoffs. Unfortunately they were not enough to secure the win, but they stood out as excellent plays in a losing game.

Game 3 marked the turning point for Team Tinker, with an unconventional lane choice from Alliance resulting in se Jonathan 'Loda' Berg's Doom moving between lanes and giving Qojqva's Centaur the freefarm to pick up a 7 minute Blink Dagger which, coupled with SingSing's 'shoot arrow, hit arrow' Mirana play, and Pajkatt's superb Nature's Prophet, inched the scales back towards Team Tinker.

It was in game 4 that Qojqva truly showed his worth, demonstrating why he is one of the most feared Tinker players in the world. Despite a laning phase that kept him fairly deprived of farm, he managed to come back to secure 10 minute BT's with the help of ancieant stacking from us Sam'Bulba' Sosale. After securing his farm lead, Qojqva snowballed out of control, picking up his E-Blade and Dagon by 23 minutes. Despite a brief moment of respite for Alliance, secured through some well timed pickoffs, Qojqva ultimately decimated their draft with the help of his teammates, securing two ultra kills, one of which should have been a rampage (I'm looking at you Pajkatt). Qojqva ended the game with an impressive 692 GPM.

The final, and most exciting, game of the series could not have been a closer run thing if it tried. It came down to a good old fashioned base race that left all who were watching gasping for breath. The performances from every player, on both sides of the river, were beautiful to watch. nl Wehsing 'SingSing' Yuen's double rapier, double daedelus Ember Spirit was a sight to behold. Misery's support Naga Siren who shifted into a farming role to end up six slotted. However, once again, Qojqva's offlane void caused jaws everywhere to drop when he landed a 5 man Chronosphere, resulting in a triple kill for himself.

In a series like this it is not usually easy to pick one player who really stands out above the rest, but Qojqva certainly made it easier, with his consistently shrewd decisions, quick reflexes, and unparalleled game sense. His ability to diversify his position in the team, from mid to offlane to safelane makes him a threatening player to draft against and a valuable asset to the Team Tinker squad.

Who do you think deserved Man of the Match?
