The Chinese league stage of the Starladder StarSeries has concluded, with Invictus Gaming taking the top spot with Newbee just behind in second. However, Vici Gaming were unable to make it to the next stage after being knocked out on tiebreakers. It was cn Invictus Gaming who claimed the top spot in the league by quite a clear margin with a perfect 7-0 record across their games, really establishing themselves as the current team to beat in China. Right behind them was the newly formed cn NewBee, who have clearly been boosted by picking up cn Jiao 'Banana' Wang in recent weeks. There were close calls however for cn DK and cn LGD who had to rely on the tiebreaker system to secure their places in the next round.

Both of them had taken victories over cn Vici Gaming, allowing them to move ahead in the league and qualify at the expense of Vici, who miss out in 5th place. This will undoubtedly be a relief for both teams, particularly DK, who dropped their last three games, including one with de Dominik 'Black^' Reitmeier standing in for the ill cn Xu 'BurNing' Zhi Lei. Also failing to qualify were cn TongFu.Wanzhou, Dream Time and CIS, the latter failing to take a single game despite their impressive performance in Sina Cup.

While four teams enter the playoffs, only two can progress to the global finals in Kyiv, Ukraine. There will be a double elimination bracket, starting this Tuesday and ending Thursday with the first round of games seeing DK take on NewBee, while iG face off against LGD. All the teams will be desperate to qualify with the prize pool standing at $187,395 at time of writing, with crowdfunding looking like it may push things past $200,000 overall. We'll have reports of all the action from those playoffs here on joinDOTA as the StarSeries reaches an exciting conclusion.
