Everyone set to attend TI3

posted by Sun_Tzu,
The final visas for Seattle and The International 2013 have been checked off earlier today, as ru Virtus.Pro became the final team to finish off proceedings and ru Vladimir 'Maelstrom' Kuzminov the final caster to receive his visa.

The visa process is generally a multi step process where in particular persons who are considered "flight risks" may be denied their first application and be asked to produce more detailed information. This is in particular the case if a person has not traveled outside of their country before, as was the case with Maelstrom, who was the only person at true risk of not getting his visa in time, but even then the support that Valve provides for people attending TI3 on their behalf goes a long way to persuade any officials that their business is legitimate.

Virtus.Pro's hearing today was one of two they had prepared prior to the International groupstages, with a second set for Wednesday the 31st of July. As the trip over to Seattle takes most of a day, Virtus.Pro told us last week that they would be in Seattle on August 1st latest, two days before the groupstages are set to begin. In fact as the process went smoother than expected, VP will be arriving around mid day on July 31st, which should provide enough time for VP to adjust to the jetlag.

There was however a small unexpected issue which cropped up, as someone had sent a letter to the consul claiming that ru Ilya 'Illidan' Pevcaev would want to stay in the U.S. illegally after his visa expired. This however was sorted out as we are told that logic prevailed and the false charge (which is a criminal offence) was dismissed.

A few days before the information regarding Virtus.Pro's slightly late secondary visa round my Orange NeoES had been the last of the Asian teams to sort out their visas, as my Xin Khoo 'Ohayo' Chong got his visa as well on the second try.

Additionally we would like to let you know that all of the various people attending the event on behalf of joinDOTA have also been cleared for travel. And don't worry, we'll all come with a label, so that those of you attending the event can find us and talk to us if you so wish. :)
