Tournament organiser WePlay! Esports announced the next DPC Major: the WePlay AniMajor takes place in June and will be the last chance for teams to earn DPC points. The second Major in the 2021 DPC season has finally been announced: Tournament organiser WePlay! Esports will host the so-called AniMajor in Kyiv from 2 - 13 June. The best teams in the world are currently fighting in the six DPC Regional Leagues to earn their ticket for the Major. Only 18 teams will advance to the tournament where they will compete for a prize pool of $500,000 and 2,700 DPC points.

The last chance to collect DPC points

All participating teams have to earn their place by finishing in the top spots in their regional DPC League. The squad that finishes the league in first place advances to the Playoffs of the Major, the runner-up starts in the Group Stage, while third and fourth place have to fight in the Wild Card.

The last series will be played on 23 May and currently there are only three teams with a fixed seed: Alliance and Virtus.pro made it to the Playoffs, whereas Team Spirit will start in the Group Stage. The event will be the last chance to earn DPC points which are necessary to qualify for The International.

As the pandemic is still raging, the tournament will be closed to spectators and only players and staff will be on site. The overarching theme for the Major is Anime. WePlay! Esports are known for their creative approach when hosting events, using one theme that they apply to all aspects of the tournament.

Despite receiving harsh criticism from players and the community, Valve does not seem to have adjusted the prize money distribution. At the latest ONE Esports Singapore Major 2021, teams that finished in 9th to 16th place did not receive any prize money.
