The Defense 4 Playoffs upon us
The playoffs of The Defense are upon us once more, as the fourth season has had all but one tiebreaker decided. The final tiebreaker between
Evil Geniuses and
Quantic Gaming will be played out on June 29th at 20:00 CEST, but the first round of the lower bracket will not wait for them, as
Mousesports take on
Next.kz also on June 29th at 17:00 CEST.
$12,000$7,000$4,000$2,000
Lower Bracket match-ups
The lower bracket will kick off with
Mousesports taking on
Next.kz as the German invitees to The International 2013 took second billing in their groupstage group, earning them a relatively easy match. Things could have looked more sobering for mouz however, as
Fnatic.EU came just shy of tying Next.Kz for the third place. As is, mouz will be the favourites to move on to the second round of the lower bracket.
Team Liquid will be counting their lucky stars as they face off against
4 Friends + Chrillee, who upset expectations by taking second place in Group C. Had Liquid come in second in their group, as
Team Dignitas did, they would now be looking to face off against either Evil Geniuses or Quantic Gaming, both of which are to be considered formidabble foes, with the unpredictability of Quantic in particular being something no team wants to face in a lower bracket match-up. However Liquid should still look out, as 4FC have adapted well to the new patch and are quite capable of punishing anyone who underestimates them.
Finally for the lower bracket we have
Virtus.Pro facing off against
Team Empire. VP take to this match-up as a definitive favourite, as Empire still have no finalized their roster following their post-TI3 qualifier changes.
Upper bracket coming up in two weeks
In the upper bracket,
Na`Vi and
The Alliance will have fairly easy run in their opening games, as
iCCup and
Kaipi upset their groups in order to gain the direct seeds into the Winner Bracket semi-finals. Still, both of these underdog teams are known for their highly talented young players, and they certainly should not be underestimated, having already come out on top against the likes of
Virtus.Pro and
Fnatic.EU aswell as
Team Dignitas and
Team Liquid respectively.
