Dota 2 is a team game and all five players are needed to be victorious. But sometimes one or two players are strong enough to carry their team in difficult moments. This is why we searched for the top-5 Dota 2 players of 2019.

zai

Team Secret had an incredible season and one big reason for that is the comeback of Ludwig 'zai' Wåhlberg. The Swedish rejoined Team Secret after more than three years and proved why he's been one of the best off-laners in the last couple of years.

His peak performance was at The Chongqing Major in January 2019. He's the only player to win our joinDOTA MVP award who doesn't play position 1 or 2.

Especially his insane Enigma plays helped his team to win important team fights throughout the whole year. Clement 'Puppey' Ivanov implemented his off-laner perfectly right after he joined Team Secret in 2018.

Miracle-

Amer 'Miracle-' Al-Barkawi had a rough start in the season. He missed out the Chongqing Major and couldn't help his team to earn important DPC points. On top of that, he decided to move from his favourite and famous mid-lane to position 1. The transition wasn't too easy for the Jordanian star.

However, he rejoined his squad for the last two Majors of the DPC 2018/19 and helped them make it into the Grand Finals twice. In fact, even The International 2019 was mostly carried on his shoulders.

For years Miracle- has been one of the best players in the world and he proves it again and again. It's not a surprise that you granted him the DPC season 2018/19 MVP and two more Major MVP titles for EPICENTER Major and MDL Disneyland Paris Major.

Paparazi/ Eurus

Although Miracle- is definitely one of the best players of 2019 and in the top 5 of the year, he isn't indisputable on the carry position. China has its own version of a position 1 superstar and his name is Zhang 'Eurus' Chengjun, formerly known as Paparazi灬.

The Chinese youngster is the only players this season who was able to secure two joinDOTA MVP awards in a row. First he won the StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor and only two weeks later he was granted the DreamLeague Season 11 MVP.

He's one of the most versatile players in the world. Also, he was China's biggest hope to win TI9 on home turf. Vici Gaming were the favourite for the event in Shanghai after winning two Majors in a row, but in the end they "just" finished 5-6th.

He has the potential to become one of the best Chinese players of all time, but for that he needs to grab the Aegis at least once.

Topson

Meanwhile, Topias 'Topson' Taavitsainen doesn't need to prove anything: he's part of the legendary OG squad that won TI twice – and that back to back. While most people consider Anathan 'ana' Pham as the OG's true star, Topson proved this year that he's one of the most valuable players in Dota 2.

His breathtaking performances at TI9 helped his team to secure the second Aegis and on top of that, he was granted with our TI9 MVP award. Although OG didn't play many events except for TI9, this tournament performance of Topson and his team proves why they're one of the best teams, maybe even the best Dota 2 line-up of all time.

YapzOr

Last, but not least we want to introduce Yazied 'YapzOr' Jaradat to this list. A lot of players had great performances throughout 2019, but we decided to include Team Secret's support into our top 5, because he had extraordinary performances – at every event he attended.

To shine on position 4 isn't easy in the latest patches. Players such as YapzOr, Maroun 'Gh' Merhej, Jesse 'JerAx' Vainikka and Xu 'Fy' Linsen are constantly fighting for the number one spot on position 4. However, this year YapzOr outclassed his competitors easily.

Rubick, Earthshaker or Earth Spirit – on each hero he delivers arguments why you could consider them his signature hero. He's fast, intelligent and calm during fights and the laning stage. To sum it up: YapzOr is the perfect support and a cornerstone of Secret's success.

This is our top 5 list. Do you agree or would you switch some players?
