$980,000 prize pool and 15,000 DPC points – the first event of the 2019/2020 season starts strong. From November 16-24, 16 teams will compete at the MDL Chengdu Major. With the open qualifiers being completed, all participants of the regional qualifiers have been determined. 15 teams will earn their slot through the regional qualifiers. The winner of the DOTA Summit 11 will be rewarded with the last one.

The qualifiers take place October 5-8. Europe, CIS and South America are going to get two spots each in the main tournament, whereas China, Southeast Asia and North America receive three spots respectively.

Meanwhile, all top four finishers of TI9 are going to skip the kickoff Major. With teams being reconstructed only recently, it is not quite predictable, which region will perform the strongest. Therefore, the different amount of slots already has been heatedly debated.

North America

For Abed 'Abed' Yusop and Roman 'RAMZEs' Kushnarev it will be their first tournament to play under Evil Geniuses flag – and their first chance to prove themselves. The brothers Sumail 'SumaiL' Syed Hassan and Yawar 'YawaR' Hassan are also going to fight together for the first time.

South America

Midas Mode 2: Sir Sadim's Revenge America's runner-up Anvorgesa is a quite talented bunch of players, but they already meet Infamous in their group. However, Group B isn't going to be a piece of cake either. paiN Gaming and FURIA Esports are not to be underestimated.

Europe

With neither OG, Team Secret nor Kuro S. 'KuroKy' Takhasomi's old Team Liquid roster participating, the field is open for new squads to emerge. Both Team Liquid and Alliance send their new line-ups into the fray – however both teams will at first play in different groups. Also, the all-Danish stack around Jon 'BabyKnight' Andersen and Marcus 'Ace' Hoelgaard will fight for a spot at the Changdu Major.

CIS

After several years,Virtus.pro replaced three of their star-players. One of their new signings is newcomer Egor 'Nightfall' Grigorenko. As a trial player, the 17 years-old could potentially get a fix place in the team if he performs well enough. In Group B, Natus Vincere is another sqaud of interest, as one of the CIS fan favourites. They, too, have to prove that their new line-up works out as intended.

China

With the departure of Song 'Sccc' Chun, his former organisation Newbee acquired a new line-up, including TI2 winner Zeng 'Faith' Hongda. Song 'Sccc' Chun joined Team Aster and will play in the same group as his former organisation. Vici Gaming go as favourites into Group A taking on teams such as EHOME and Invictus Gaming.

Southeast Asia

Nuengnara '23savage' Teeramahanon caught the attention during the The International 2019: Southeast Asia Qualifiers, finishing second place. He now has the chance to improve himself and finally get a step further on Fnatic. TNC Predator is hoping for a slot in Chengdu. Is the refreshed stack staging a comeback?
