Ceb about ana: "Now that he's back, OG is back"

posted by Brasozial,
OG finally qualified for their first Major of this season. For Sebastien 'Ceb' Debs, it's the perfect timing. He'll be the only French player in front of the homecrowd at Disneyland Paris.
There are not many professional players from France in Dota 2. In fact, there is only one successful player from that Western European country right now - and it's Ceb. It was not always easy for OG's offlaner. He stopped playing professional in April 2016 and decided to take over as a coach for OG. However, he came back as a professional player and finished the dream story by winning The International 2018.

At the MDL Disneyland Paris Major he'll make another dream of his come true: to compete at a Major in his home country. In an interview with L'ÉQUIPE the Frenchman talked about the upcoming Major and several other topics:

The planets begin to line up. Anathan "ana" Pham is back, we finally qualify for a Major and it's in Paris. I had been waiting for years for a Dota 2 tournament of this caliber in France. We feel like we have partially recovered the momentum from before our victory at The International during the qualifier. Without ana, we did not manage to create the synergy we had with him. Now that he's back, OG is back.

He also explains in the interview why it didn't work out with Per Anders 'Pajkatt' Olsson L. and Igor 'ILTW' Filatov in the end. He thinks that both players had a mental block because they were playing with the reigning TI champions. Whenever the team lost games the new members "felt guilty".

"Ana just needed more time than us"

After the lack of success Anathan 'ana' Pham came back to rejoin OG and Ceb was never doubting that this would happen in the end:

He wrote to us. After our victory at TI, the first discussion between us was very important. We thought everyone should take the time they needed to recover. There was no question of stopping. Ana just needed more time than us. We knew he would come back, but we needed him to tell us that he was mentally ready to do it. To return is simple, but to completely dive back into the game is something else. Today we are all ready to put our title of World Champions on the line because we think we can keep it.

He also talks with L'ÉQUIPE about the upcoming Major and the motivation after winning TI. If you want to read the complete interview in French, click here.

Is OG really one of the best teams in the world thanks to ana's comeback?
