ADVERTISING:Ninjas in Pyjamas started against Forward Gaming as a favourite, because the North Americans didn't have a convincing performance in this DPC yet. Peter 'ppd' Dager and his team-mates, on the other hand, are considered to be a threat to the top four teams on a good day - and this was a good day:
Everything was focused on Reso
Roman 'Resolut1on' Fominok and Co. had a good early game, but NiP had more control on the map. They destroyed enough objectives in the early game to put pressure on Forward.
Resolut1on's Troll Warlord had better farm in the mid game than Ace's Juggernaut, but Doom and Razor were still ahead after 23 minutes. He desperately searched for an impact kill, but couldn't find it.
His team realized how important Reso's farm is and gave up more objectives in the following 10 minutes - everything was focused on the Ukrainian carry. Forward was prepared to fight for their own high ground.
A solid team fight combination surrounding Universe's Black Hole helped Forward to stop NiP for the moment. However, the result was unavoidable: Adrian 'Fata' Trinks, Ace and Neta '33' Shapira were too strong.
tavo's unusual pick destroys Liquid
The second game of the day was between Team Liquid and Chaos Esports Club. It is a surprise to see the TI7 champions in the first round of the Lower Bracket. Kuro S. 'KuroKy' Takhasomi and his team-mates lost against Team Secret and Keen Gaming in the group stage.
The draft was a bit of a surprise, because Chaos tried something unusual to take Kuro off guard. The Brazilian squad decided to give Otávio 'tavo' Gabriel Omniknight. A hero that has a 3% pick rate in this meta. Rasmus 'MiSeRy' Fillipsen had to try something out of the order, because Liquid's bans were focused on tavo's offlane.
Some good rotation in the early game gave Chaos a good advantage and important kills on Liquid's carries, but Liquid stuck to their game plan - with success!
It took them six minutes to kill the first Chaos heroes and from that point on they put more pressure on the bottom lane to harass tavo. The disadvantage of that: William 'hFnk3' Medeiros got too much space with Ursa on the top lane.
Chaos put more and more pressure on the mid and top lane - it didn't look good for Liquid. They didn't have the damage to actually be a danger to Chaos' carries. 16 minutes in the game Chaos had a 10k gold lead and 20 to seven kills. Liquid needed a big turnover to not get eliminated in Round One of the Lower Bracket.
Chaos was unstoppable and destroyed more and more objectives. Liquid couldn't find an opening.
This is the end of Liquid's Major run! They got eliminated on Day One of the DreamLeague Season 11 Major.
Is Chaos a threat to the other top teams now?
