TI8 champions lose to Vega, but Liquid avenge OG in the Decider Match

OG has only one chance left

It was a bit of a surprise that Team Liquid had to play against Vega Squadron in the deciding game of the qualifier. While the TI7 winners won against Kaban surrounding Troels 'syndereN' Nielsen, OG lost their game against Vega with 2-0.

This means the reigning TI champion won't attend the third Major in a row. While they decided not to compete in the first Major in Kuala Lumpur, OG just made it to the Minor in round two. However, they didn't win the event and only finished in 5th-6th place.

They'll have one more chance to qualify for the DreamLeague Season 11 Major by winning the StarLadder Minor that will be hosted in Kiev.

Liquid fights back

Liquid, on the other hand, won the first Lower Bracket game against syndereN's team convincingly with 2-0 and didn't reveal any problems in game one of the decider match against Vega.

Maurice 'KheZu' Gutmann's team desperately tried to defeat Liquid on high ground, but even a Divine Rapier in the arms of Omar 'Madara' Dabachach was not enough to stop Kuro's team.

The second game was a bigger challenge for Liquid: Vega drafted a lineup that was able to compete with Kuro and his team-mates in the early and mid-game. However, the favourites aggressively concentrated on pushing lanes forcing team fights to maintain an advantage - especially a clever Aegis snatch by Amer 'Miracle-' Al-Barkawi kept them in the lead.

After 39 minutes in the game Liquid forced the Mega Creeps, but lost four of their players. This gave Vega a glimmer of hope and an undisputed Rosh fight, but the mega creeps made it impossible for Vega to find the fight they needed. Liquid beat KheZu's team and will attend the third Major in Stockholm.

Which two European teams will make it into the Minor?
