The final spot for The Bucharest Minor has been claimed, with CIS side AS Monaco Gambit emerging victorious.

This is not their first rodeo on the DPC circuit this season, as the side qualified for The Kuala Lumpur Major under the name of ferzee before being picked up by Gambit. In that event they went on to finish 13th-16th, losing both their Group Stage matches before elimination at the hands of Forward Gaming.

With qualification for The Chongqing Major at stake alongside a hefty payday, Gambit will be looking to improve on that performance in Bucharest. Their form has improved since then, narrowly missing out on Major qualification proper after defeat to regional powerhouses Virtus.pro.

Here they dropped just one game on their way to Minor qualification — their solitary loss coming in the opening game of their 2-1 first-round win over Winstrike. From there, they hit their stride, taking down Team Empire Hope in a 2-0, one-hour series.

In the Grand Final they faced a rematch with Winstrike, and despite the 2-0 win for Gambit both games were close affairs — just three kills separated the sides in Game 1, which Winstrike led for all but the last two minutes, and it was the same situation in the second. However, with qualification secured, Gambit won’t be too concerned.

They take their place alongside seven other teams for the event, which takes place 9-13 January 2019.
