Over the weekend eight teams from CIS and Europe did battle in the inaugural GG.Bet Invitational — and it was the Europeans of Ninjas in Pyjamas that got one up over their CIS rivals from AS Monaco Gambit.

Just one match dropped for Ninjas

The Swedish organisation dropped just one match on their way to the title and lion’s share of the $50k prize pool. They rolled over Gambit in the Grand Final, with both matches lasting less than an hour in total.

Game One was a destruction. Lasting just 33 minutes, Adrian 'Fata' Trinks led the way with a perfect KDA in the midlane and was ably backed up with another perfect KDA from Martin 'Saksa' Sazdov in the toplane. NiP racked up a 25-5 kill and 31k net worth lead to seal the win.

Game Two wasn’t much different — a 28-10 win, 15.7k advantage and over in less than 25 minutes. Fata picked up another perfect KDA game, this time alongside Marcus 'Ace' Hoelgaard, as NiP sealed the win and with it, the championship.

Next up for the Ninjas will be ESL One Hamburg, followed by the Major.

Plenty of positives for Gambit

It was a good showing overall from the all-Russian squad, who were previously known as Ferzee until being picked up midway through this event. It continued their good form, which has seen them seal a spot at The Kuala Lumpur Major.

They also placed second in the recent Reshuffle Madness event, losing to Alliance in the Grand Final. They were unable to exact their revenge here, losing 2-1 in a comeback win for the Swedish org in the Winners’ Match of Group B.

Final fling for Odium

It was to be the last tournament for Ilya 'Lil' Ilyuk and his Odium side, following the much-publicised departures of first Alik 'V-Tune' Vorobey and Viktor 'GeneRaL' Nigrini, then Andrey 'Ghostik' Kadyk, and then disbanding following their exit here. The organisation had lasted just 32 days.

They limped out of the event having lost both their matches in the Group Stage — first being taken down 2-1 by eventual winners NiP, and then 2-0 in the losers’ match against Team Spirit. Less than 24 hours later they were through.
