After a turnaround series win against OpTic Gaming, Virtus.pro have booked a Lower Bracket Round 4 match with Evil Geniuses at The International 2018 later today. Who will come out on top of this clash of the titans? We look forward to a hype series:

EG reeling after OG grudge match

Evil Geniuses will have a point to prove. They’re going into this match on the back of a devastating loss against the Europeans of OG — a match that had an added personal edge. It was Johan 'BigDaddyN0tail' Sundstein who ended up taking the victory over his former cohort Tal 'Fly' Aizik, but the North Americans will be looking to bounce back and keep their hopes of the Aegis alive.

VP break down the Green Wall

Despite claiming the first game in the series, OpTic Gaming were ultimately no match for Aleksey 'Solo' Berezin and his teammates. Per Anders 'Pajkatt' Olsson L. and Quinn 'CCnC' Callahan both claimed perfect-KDA games, but were unable to translate that form into Game 2 as VP ran riot and recorded a mighty 62 kills. At least they put up more of a fight in Game 3, but with Roman 'RAMZEs' Kushnarev popping off another one-sided win claimed the series and a shot at EG.

Can RTZ break the curse?

Sometimes a joke is more than that. Something said off-hand manifests in the mindset of the players, leading them to question their decisions in the heat of battle. Is this what is happening to Evil Geniuses, after such a promising start? There are many who would love to see Artour 'Arteezy' Babaev break this supposed curse and finally lift the Aegis, but will Sumail 'SumaiL' Syed Hassan's offhand comment be playing on their minds against VP?

Time to show DPC dominance?

Virtus.pro were the best team in the regular season, finishing nearly three thousand points ahead of their nearest rivals in the Dota Pro Circuit. They’ve stuttered on their way to the last eight, dropping games in the Group Stage before being swept at the first attempt by PSG.LGD in the Main Event. However, they’ve battled back, and will be looking to finally find some of that DPC form.

The classic 'USA vs Russia' battle

“USA, USA, USA!” It’s something we’ve heard several times already from the fans inside the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, and in a battle of old continental enemies many in attendance will be hoping for an EG win. That’s not forgetting that Evil Geniuses and SumaiL have tasted TI success before, while the Russian org have never finished higher than a tie for 5th-6th. We’d make a prediction here, but honestly it’s probably just too close to call.
