What a day we had yesterday! Twenty matches played out over twelve hours saw North America take the early advantage at The International 2018, with Evil Geniuses topping Group A and Forward Gaming heading up Group B. With more hyped matches to come, we look forward to the day’s events.

Opening day provides thrills and spills

TI8 opened with what none (or all) of us expected — technical issues. But once the games got underway, did we have some cracking results.

We saw Team Liquid destroyed in Game 2 of their series with Fnatic, PSG.LGD held three times and Winstrike take a shock 2-0 win over Invictus Gaming in Group A.

In Group B, Chinese qualifiers Team Serenity took games off both Team Secret and Virtus.pro, VGJ.Storm won the ‘battle of the Vicis’ and paiN Gaming* won their first ever game at a TI. Not to mention Artour 'Arteezy' Babaev played Phoenix support... Today promises to be a good day!

Our picks in Group A

Today is a shorter day for the teams in Group A, with just two series to be played. PSG.LGD against Winstrike may prove to be a stormer, with PSG underperforming on Day 1, while Fnatic will be looking to build on yesterday’s promising results with victory over Mineski. In the second series of the day, leaders Evil Geniuses take on PSG.LGD, which again is too tough to call.

The Best of Group B

With more matches on offer, we’ll really get to see just who is top dog in the group. VGJ.Storm take on both OpTic Gaming and paiN and will be expected to win both matches after their performance yesterday, while VP take on Secret in a battle of DPC heavyweights. We also have two all-Chinese matches, with Newbee taking on Vici Gaming before facing Serenity later in the day.

Who do you think will come out of Day 2 strongest? Which matches are you looking forward to most?
