The group stage for GESC E-Series: Bangkok has one of the most volatile formats you could imagine, but Fnatic have impressively come through Day 1 unscathed.

The format in question is an eight-team round robin consisting entirely of single-game series. That's seven games for each team to play and a total of 28 games. The most surprising outcome of the first day of matches is by far the fact that Fnatic didn't lose a single game of the four they played today, even when faced with Team Secret.

Their first game of the day was against The Final Tribe, and it was quite the slugfest. After an hour of back and forth brawling, Fnatic took the upper and and the victory. It was a very close thing though, as Final Tribe managed to hold their highground and delay for quite some time.

In the game against Secret, Fnatic made a whiplash-inducing comeback after lagging behind for over 40 minutes. The turnaround started with a quick death for Johan 'pieliedie' Åström and an awkward initiation from Secret. Fnatic took down four and swung the net worth from a 12k deficit to almost dead even.

After that turnaround, Fnatic easily took the win and moved on with a 2-0 record. Their next two opponents were SG e-sports and Thai qualifier squad Alpha Red, both of whom went down quickly. Fnatic will move on to their final three matches with the only 4-0 record from Day 1.
